Mandy Coon x Made Her Think

Between Eddie Borgo, Helen Yarmak, Bottega Veneta and Delfina Delletrez, and countless others, trust us when we say there’s certainly an insect jewelry vibe in the air.  Which is perfect timing for Mandy Coons new bug heavy jewelry line with Meredith Kahn of  Made Her Think. Coon launched her first  RTW collection in Spring 2010 and lured us into her dark, gothic world of geometric design.  It was Coon’s love of vintage jewelry that caused her to stumble across an old bug brooch, which quickly became the inspiration to a truly unique collection for Fall 2011.

Etc…
The collection is comprised of four pieces: a necklace, a bug ring, a small brooch and a large brooch.  The pieces are Rhodium based, and some are wrapped in her signature leather and studded with Swarovski crystals.  The collection captures both the gothic qualities of Coon as well as the Edwardian darkness that resonates in Made Her Think.  Who would of thought bugs could be so enticing? But that still doesn’t mean we’re looking forward to mosquito season.  All will be available through Meredith Kahn’s Made Her Think line.

M. Clifford x Pono by Joan Goodman

Currently searching for an alternative handbag? We may have found just the designer for you. While the “It” bag is supposedly a dead trend, we can give tangible evidence to the contrary as we constantly spot girls and boys alike carrying the latest Alexander Wang satchel, Celine tote or PS1 (if you don’t know you’d better ask somebody). Dee & Ricky x Shayan Afshar

The wundertwins are back to pushing the boundaries of kitsch and cool with their latest offering; the cigarette ring. This unique two finger ring is forged out of rhodium and ends in an emerald cut ruby, resembling a cigarettes burning ember tip. Let’s be real. Images of smoking are still found everywhere and probably won’t go out of fashion no matter how many ‘Truth’ commercials MTV airs. To avoid flack, they can always claim the ring is simply an homage to Mondrian. Because that never gets old.

Michael Kaplan x Atelier Swarovski

Could anything be more intertwined than fashion and film? Bonnie & Clyde and Desperately Seeking Susan alone have inspired more than a dozen collections a piece. Ridley Scott’s futuristic Blade Runner has also had its fair share of influence, so it’s perfectly fitting that the film’s costume designer, Michael Kaplan, should be tapped to collaborate with Atelier Swarovski on a jewelry collection for Spring.

Pamela Love x TopShop

Topshop knows how to pick its collaborators. After its umpteenth season with Kate Moss, the brand finally moved on, leaving us to wonder which designer would be the next hit-maker for the megabrand. Turns out Pamela Love has been tapped by Sir Philip Green as the first US designer to partner with the brand on a line due out this April. The mini-collection will supposedly incorporate the “spirit of America.”

After celebrating his 30th year in business this past fashion week, what could designer, Michael Kors, have in store for next season? For Fall 2011, Kors and Fossil are working with mixed metals and chain detail to bring today’s woman “the perfect jewelry box.” Expanding the jewelry category is clearly the step in the right direction for both Kors and Fossil. Club Monaco x Scosha

Oh Club Monaco. Always looking out for the little guy. The mega brand has scooped up Australian designer Schosha Woolridge of Scosha for a new in-store collaboration. The brand has always managed to maintain an image that keeps them out of the category of disposable fast fashion, and part of that is due to their commitment to featuring the designers they believe in. After all, when the brand featured James Coviello’s hats, they were sold at practically the wholesale cost, meaning Club Monaco is serious about making sure every single piece gets sold.
