Christian Lacroix x Sicis

Photo: Sicis

Now that we’ve more or less come out of the recession, it seems such a tragedy to think that Christian Lacroix isn’t still around enthralling us with the latest in couture creations. While his company has turned into little more than a string of licensed denim lines and perfumes, the man himself has been busy designing opera costumes, interiors for hotels, and supervising Lacroix retrospectives in Singapore. Recently the designer has partnered with Sicis to launch an exuberant new furniture collection.

Jennifer Behr x Fendi

We couldn’t help laughing a little when we heard Silvia Venturini Fendi’s description of her latest AW11 collection for Fendi: an uptight art teacher who was ready to go wild at any minute. But as we made our way through the show, that very aesthetic was definitely palpable in smock dresses, ruffled blouses, wool pencil skirts and of course the headbands courtesy of Jennifer Behr. To our knowledge, this marks Behr’s first collaboration with Fendi for which she customized her Dinosaur Headbands into Fendi’s own sumptuous leathers and wools. That initial meeting with Karl Lagerfeld must have been a nail-biter but our real question is whether Blair Waldorf will eventually give up her W Magazine fashion closet dreams for a career as a headmistress…

BAPE x Dr. Marten

Photo: Dazed Digital

There was a time when the A Bathing Ape line drew hoards of fans around the corner of Greene Street in NY all hoping to get a hand on Nigo’s colorful sneakers and hoodies (Pharrell Williams’ support might have had a little something to do with that). Though the mass hysteria has subsided, the cult following is still going strong and loyal fans will be pleased to discover Nigo’s newfound love of British aesthetics in a collaboration with none other than Dr. Marten’s.

Alexander Wang x Dockers

Photo: Dockers

Expect to be seeing more and more of Alexander Wang in the coming months, with his recently opened NYC flagship store and get ready for it,a collaboration with Dockers. Yes that’s right, the designer known for getting otherwise reasonable women to blow their hard-earned paychecks on trendy mesh knits and vertiginous platforms is collaborating with America’s classic sportswear brand on a capsule collection. There’s a reasonable explanation though. Wang recently won the GQ 2011 Best New Menswear Designer in America (though we can’t think of a single menswear piece of his other than a oversize T-shirt), which came along with a $50,000 stipend and a mentorship with Dockers, Bloomingdale’s, and GQ. And because you don’t get something for nothing in fashion, a Docker’s collaboration is part of the prize.

Jean Yu x Proenza Schouler and rag&bone

Lingerie aficionados are no stranger to the name Jean Yu, Jean Yu. Her eponymous line may not have the recognition that La Perla and Eres does, but trust us when we tell you it’s worth a quick google. If you can think back far enough to Spring 2011 NY fashion week, rag&bone and Proenza Schouler both approached Yu for a collaborative design effort, and now the pieces have finally trickled into stores.

DKNY x Veuve Clicquot

Photo: DKNY

Some collaborations just make sense, others need a little bit of parsing out. This week we’ve got Veuve Clicquot and DKNY partnering on a sure to be popular limited edition mustard yellow snow boot. Veuve Clicquot is the de rigeur champagne of the Aspen-set, so we guess it makes sense that tipsy snowbunnies could be in the market for a colorful rubber boot to help them get through this abusive winter. Yes we’re now at 49 states with snow, #snowmaggedon.

Kinder Aggugini x Macy’s

We’re getting ourselves primed for the Karl Lagerfeld for Macy’s collaboration that will hopefully take our breath away, but in the meantime Macy’s has handpicked London-based talent Kinder Aggugini for a capsule collection that already has a few fans. This collab is part of Macy’s designer series (hmm sounds familiar) which will premiere new collections every two months Aggugini, who despite his London following has yet to break through on the international scale. Kinder has honed his signature polka dots into a few remarkable pieces, including silk floral dresses and shorts, military and leather jackets, and chiffon rompers. You know your everyday basics.

Adam Kimmel x Carhartt

Photo:Carharrt

Toss that Bic razor because the man’s man is back. Carhartt and Adam Kimmel are working together on a new line sold exclusively at Barney’s New York in addition to a few specialty retailers. Kimmel has been a fan of Carhartt since his youth, and since Kimmel’s line often incorporates utilitarian themes, it’s no surprise that he would choose the 150+ year-old American heritage as a partner. The union was initiated by Barney’s vice president and manager of menswear, and he hopes to see it run past its initial two seasons.
