Mandy Coon x Made Her Think

Between Eddie Borgo, Helen Yarmak, Bottega Veneta and Delfina Delletrez, and countless others, trust us when we say there’s certainly an insect jewelry vibe in the air.  Which is perfect timing for Mandy Coons new bug heavy jewelry line with Meredith Kahn of  Made Her Think. Coon launched her first  RTW collection in Spring 2010 and lured us into her dark, gothic world of geometric design.  It was Coon’s love of vintage jewelry that caused her to stumble across an old bug brooch, which quickly became the inspiration to a truly unique collection for Fall 2011.

The collection is comprised of four pieces: a necklace, a bug ring, a small brooch and a large brooch.  The pieces are Rhodium based, and some are wrapped in her signature leather and studded with Swarovski crystals.  The collection captures both the gothic qualities of Coon as well as the Edwardian darkness that resonates in Made Her Think.  Who would of thought bugs could be so enticing? But that still doesn’t mean we’re looking forward to mosquito season.  All will be available through Meredith Kahn’s Made Her Think line.

This x That

Word has it that an American car industry titan is aligning itself with your boyfriend’s favorite menswear designer (Hint: He’s a CFDA winner).

This concept vehicle, first launched in 2004 and updated each year, looks more like a Maybach than your usual executive town car but in the dead of night, who can tell?

Gaia Repossi x Zadig et Voltaire

Zadig & Voltaire can’t collaborate enough. On the heels of their work with model and muse Erin Wasson, the brand has announced a new partnership with Gaia Repossi. Repossi, who serves as artistic director for her family’s line, Maison Repossi, has simultaneously managed to create stunning fine jewelry pieces and more accessible items like the chokers and cuffs she whipped up for Alexander Wang’s fall 2010 collection.

Club Monaco x Scosha

Oh Club Monaco. Always looking out for the little guy. The mega brand has scooped up Australian designer Schosha Woolridge of Scosha for a new in-store collaboration. The brand has always managed to maintain an image that keeps them out of the category of disposable fast fashion, and part of that is due to their commitment to featuring the designers they believe in. After all, when the brand featured James Coviello’s hats, they were sold at practically the wholesale cost, meaning Club Monaco is serious about making sure every single piece gets sold.

BAPE x Mr. Porter

Nigo has spent 18 years at A Bathing Ape drawing in fans with camouflage hoodies and colorful sneakers but after changing up his aesthetic for a decidedly English take on Dr. Martens, the designer is furthering his love of all things dandy with a new project with online shopping website, Mr. Porter. The line, aptly named Mr. Bathing Ape, is a chance for Nigo to flex his tailoring muscle, offering up pieces made to appear like they came straight off of Savile Row.

Alexander Wang x Dockers

Photo: Dockers

Expect to be seeing more and more of Alexander Wang in the coming months, with his recently opened NYC flagship store and get ready for it,a collaboration with Dockers. Yes that’s right, the designer known for getting otherwise reasonable women to blow their hard-earned paychecks on trendy mesh knits and vertiginous platforms is collaborating with America’s classic sportswear brand on a capsule collection. There’s a reasonable explanation though. Wang recently won the GQ 2011 Best New Menswear Designer in America (though we can’t think of a single menswear piece of his other than a oversize T-shirt), which came along with a $50,000 stipend and a mentorship with Dockers, Bloomingdale’s, and GQ. And because you don’t get something for nothing in fashion, a Docker’s collaboration is part of the prize.

Adam Kimmel x Carhartt

Toss that Bic razor because the man’s man is back. Carhartt and Adam Kimmel are working together on a new line sold exclusively at Barney’s New York in addition to a few specialty retailers. Kimmel has been a fan of Carhartt since his youth, and since Kimmel’s line often incorporates utilitarian themes, it’s no surprise that he would choose the 150+ year-old American heritage as a partner. The union was initiated by Barney’s vice president and manager of menswear, and he hopes to see it run past its initial two seasons.

Christian Louboutin x Marlon Gobel Images

Though the name Christian Louboutin might not create the same feeling of elation in men that it does in women, there’s no question that the stiletto mastermind has managed some fantastic menswear pieces. Never one to tone down his vision, the designer has inspired men to drop their salaries on sneakers and loafers with no shortage of leopard and studs. Now the designer is partnering with upstart designer Marlon Gobel, collaborating on shoes for the line’s Fall 2011 collection.
