Exclusive: Leslie Fremar x Fruit of the Loom

Stylist to the stars (but really, who isn’t these days?) Leslie Fremar has a new project in store with none other than Fruit of the Loom. Though Fremar’s name might not be on the tip of your tongues, the names on her star-studded roster surely are. She counts Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Connelly, and Charlize Theron among her devoted clients. Fruit of the Loom must have made quite the offer to lure her away for this project.

Nine West x Karen Elson

When we wrote a while back about Nine West’s collaboration with Sophie Theallet, we just had to pop by the brand’s presentation to see the styles in person. In between canapés, we were pleased to learn about Nine West’s next collaborator. This time around, there won’t be a designer helming the project but it will be none other than model/musician Karen Elson.

Nine West is set to cash in on a couple superstar designers in the coming months. The accessories chain has brought in CFDA award-winner and Alaia protégé Sophie Theallet on a capsule collection of shoes and accessories this spring. Though Theallet doesn’t produce accessories for her own collection, the charming and slightly country aesthetic she brings to Nine West might be an indicator of what we can expect from her burgeoning line in the future. For Theallet it’s about comfort and the beauty, for instance the flats are foldable. Score one for office dressing, but wait, there’s more.

Joss Stone x Nine West

The name Joss Stone may not have the same resonance as say; Britney, Christina, or even Stefani Germanotta, but the British R&B singer has been approached by American footwear brand Nine West to design a limited edition collection. Fred Allard, Nine West’s Creative Director, said “this collection will incorporate her mind, body and soul to create some wonderfully imaginative footwear.” – WWD. The styles she designs will be developed for Nine West Vintage America, a line the company launched in fall ’09. The concept behind the line is rugged individualism, with styles that are meant to be “soulful, sincere, and free spirited,” which perfectly describe the bohemian singer. Stone wishes to incorporate elements of her unique floral tattoos into her designs to give a personal feel to the collection. The union appears a bit incongruous, considering that Stone frequently forgoes footwear in favor of performing barefoot, but considering that proceeds of the $70-$120 collection will go to the Soles4Souls charity, we can’t really fault them for that.
