Exclusive: Leslie Fremar x Fruit of the Loom

Stylist to the stars (but really, who isn’t these days?) Leslie Fremar has a new project in store with none other than Fruit of the Loom. Though Fremar’s name might not be on the tip of your tongues, the names on her star-studded roster surely are. She counts Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Connelly, and Charlize Theron among her devoted clients. Fruit of the Loom must have made quite the offer to lure her away for this project.

Nine West is set to cash in on a couple superstar designers in the coming months. The accessories chain has brought in CFDA award-winner and Alaia protégé Sophie Theallet on a capsule collection of shoes and accessories this spring. Though Theallet doesn’t produce accessories for her own collection, the charming and slightly country aesthetic she brings to Nine West might be an indicator of what we can expect from her burgeoning line in the future. For Theallet it’s about comfort and the beauty, for instance the flats are foldable. Score one for office dressing, but wait, there’s more.

Billy Reid x J.Crew

Photo:Billy Reid

Billy Reid seems to be the name on everyone’s lips these days. After walking away with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, collecting a cool $300,000, Reid has let slip to NBC news that he has a collaboration in the works with J. Crew. Reid’s approach to fashion, working in a small studio in Florence, Alabama, lends him to designs that shirk trends and showcase the woodsy, worker, prep aesthetic for a younger customer. Recent reports indicate that J. Crew menswear sales are increasing faster than women’s, so J. Crew has made a wise choice in Reid, whose relaxed fits and madras prints aren’t very far from what the guys at J. Crew are already picking up these days.

Updated: Vena Cava x Bloomingdale’s

Vena Cava is partnering with Bloomingdale’s on a limited-edition collection. Aqua, Bloomingdale’s own ready-to-wear line, is trying on a new aesthetic by taking Vena Cava’s vintage-inspired look and appealing it to the trendy, young and frugal Bloomingdale’s customer. The line features luxurious fabrics such as silk and velvet in sophisticated muted tones along with Vena Cava staples like flirty skirts, geometric print dresses, and chiffon tops.

It’s about time Bloomies took on some new designer talent (Vena Cava were twice nominated for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award) to inject their store with a bit of fresh energy. Considering both partners in this collab are aiming for the same market, we can’t see a better match. The collection is priced at an accessible $98-$198; perfect for New York girls desperate for that Kirsten Dunst and Natalie Portman look who simply cannot bear one more season of fighting off aggressive shoppers at the infamous Barney’s New York Warehouse Sale.

Anna Sui x Andrew Bolton x Steven Meisel x Jack White

It’s no secret that Anna Sui is a fashion industry darling. In 2009, Sui joined the ranks of American legends Bill Blass and Ralph Lauren when she won the CFDA Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. And now the widely admired designer is working on a book about her 20-year legacy. She is collaborating with Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton on the bulk of the text while Steven Meisel has provided the introduction and Jack White (fearless front man of the White Stripes and husband to longtime Sui model Karen Elson) created the preface. Sui herself is contributing the foreword and over 400 images of her best moments in fashion. “The process of compiling and reliving favorite memories from my career was very gratifying,” Sui told WWD. The book will be published by Chronicle Books this Fall and is sure to include images of every supermodel from Naomi Campbell to Agyness Deyn in Sui’s sometimes bohemian, sometimes rocker but always cheerful designs. See some of our favorite images from the book below.

Juicy Couture x Erin Fetherston

Photo: Juicy Couture

Juicy Couture has tapped womenswear designer Erin Fetherston as a guest designer and creative consultant. Both brands have California roots, so it will be interesting to see what her approach to the brand’s iconic track suit will be. Should we expect to see French lace trimmed track suits? Fetherston is known for that approach of feminine and romantic designs.

The project will last through Holiday 2011, coinciding with the track suit’s 10th anniversary. Fetherston and Edgar Huber, president of Juicy Couture, are excited for the pairing because they both agree on casual luxury and fun loving designs. “It’s very impressive that Juicy Couture has become a global brand in such a short period of time. I’ve always related to the fun-loving and modern spirit of the brand and its distinct design point of view. I’m very honored and excited to step into this role,” said Fetherston. Her debut pieces of track suits and more will be offered in a limited edition selection starting Holiday 2010.

Yestadt Millinery x Vena Cava

Photo: Style.com

For her second collaboration with Vena Cava, Molly Yestadt found the perfect backdrop for her F/W 2010 collection of spaghetti western inspired hats. Vena Cava’s fall woman would not look out of place saddled next to Clint Eastwood in the cult classic film, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ or walking down Havemeyer Street in Williamsburg for that matter. This nod to the late 60’s/early 70’s era echoed through each look that went down the runway.
