This x That

Word has it that an American car industry titan is aligning itself with your boyfriend’s favorite menswear designer (Hint: He’s a CFDA winner).

Etc.

This concept vehicle, first launched in 2004 and updated each year, looks more like a Maybach than your usual executive town car but in the dead of night, who can tell?

Michael Kaplan x Atelier Swarovski

Could anything be more intertwined than fashion and film? Bonnie & Clyde and Desperately Seeking Susan alone have inspired more than a dozen collections a piece. Ridley Scott’s futuristic Blade Runner has also had its fair share of influence, so it’s perfectly fitting that the film’s costume designer, Michael Kaplan, should be tapped to collaborate with Atelier Swarovski on a jewelry collection for Spring.

Kanye West x M/M Paris

Creative team M/M (Paris) have been working under the radar since their short-lived stint as creative directors of Interview Magazine. That isn’t to suggest they haven’t been busy though. The dynamic duo, and minds behind many a Balenciaga ad campaign and Björk album cover, have been commissioned to create an illustrative letterset for Kanye West’s latest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. And as it is with all things Kanye, there had to be a fashion aspect.

Gaia Repossi x Zadig et Voltaire

Zadig & Voltaire can’t collaborate enough. On the heels of their work with model and muse Erin Wasson, the brand has announced a new partnership with Gaia Repossi. Repossi, who serves as artistic director for her family’s line, Maison Repossi, has simultaneously managed to create stunning fine jewelry pieces and more accessible items like the chokers and cuffs she whipped up for Alexander Wang’s fall 2010 collection.

John Matos x Tumi

Statement luggage is a must. Why? Two reasons: First, baggage claim at the airport can quickly go from civilization to animal kingdom as weary passengers’ eyes dart from side to side hoping to spot their bag. Second, travel can be daunting, and there’s nothing like a good accessory to make the crush at the airport seem a little more bearable. That’s why we’re fans of Tumi’s new collaboration with graffiti artist John Matos.

Piperlime Reaches Collaboration Station

As the public’s obsession with celebrity style reaches a deafening crescendo, Piperlime is positioning itself to cash in. Rachel Zoe, whose clients can be found in virtually every gossip rag known to man (BOP and Tiger Beat included) was the first to work with the then relatively untested e-commerce site. Next came a fellow Bravo-lebrity, Mondo Guerra for the celebrity backed amFar organization. Now Piperlime has come full circle to provide everyday access to celebrity style by partnering with Beyond Vintage, Ella Moss, Rachel Pally and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. As all of these brands are regularly spotted in the “Celebrities! They’re Just Like Us!” section. Piperlime is clearly onto something.

Rating, Voting, Things of that nature…

As seasons change, designers will continue to lure shoppers in with new designs. So let us know what things you are coveting, hating or wishing there were more of. How? It’s simple! Just “like” it or leave a comment if you feel like it. And unlike Facebook, we have a “dislike” option. Get on our level, Zuckerberg.

We are on Facebook too. Of course.

Pamela Love x TopShop

Topshop knows how to pick its collaborators. After its umpteenth season with Kate Moss, the brand finally moved on, leaving us to wonder which designer would be the next hit-maker for the megabrand. Turns out Pamela Love has been tapped by Sir Philip Green as the first US designer to partner with the brand on a line due out this April. The mini-collection will supposedly incorporate the “spirit of America.”
