Björk x Apple

Icelandic singer-songwriter, Björk, is getting technologically creative her latest collaboration and next musical release. She may be best known for her new wave electronic sound in hits like “Army of Me” and “Hyperballad”, but Björk has showed her range of talent by producing and composing music as well as acting in a few films. She’s won four MTV Music Video Awards, and has been nominated for 13 Grammys and even an Oscar. It may be safe to say the dead swan she wore as a dress in 2001 killed her chances of winning that Oscar, but I guess we’ll never really know.

However, we do know that this new collaboration with Apple is both exciting and inventive. Her new album, Biophilia, will be released as both a conventional album and an app album. The app for the iPad will consist of 10 individual mini-apps all relating to a different track. Here’s the breakdown: The apps will allow the user to interact with the songs by playing with themes and creating new versions. The apps will also include photos and videos, and will evolve with the album’s release schedule. Björk describes the app as an “expression of the music, story and idea.” Biophilia will begin on June 30 during her live performance in Manchester, U.K. at the International Festival. Let us know if you will download it as you’re umpteenth app
