J.C. Penney is working quickly on shedding their unfashionable reputation. After a successful collaboration with Charlotte Ronson, the storied department store is working with Spanish company Mango in an attempt to inject some fast fashion energy into their fall deliveries. Mango has trained a generation of shoppers to embrace trends, pounce quickly on new merchandise, and never stop coming back for more, which J.C. Penney is hoping to replicate for themselves.

MNG by Mango will be available in 77 stores by August 18th, expanding into 600 stores this fall. What’s in store; MNG skinny jeans and lace embellished tops in specially designed shop-in-shops. While competitors like Target have embraced both up and coming and legendary designers to bring fashion to the masses, we find it a little odd that J.C. Penney would rather accelerate fast fashion rather than reach out to some new names. Will this type of
collaboration catch on? Personally, we would much rather be snapping up Rodarte for Target than Zara’s for Wal-Mart.
