Kenneth Jay Lane x Via Spiga

Kenneth Jay Lane, fashion’s go-to jewelry designer for everything from baubles to bangles, is helping shoe brand Via Spiga to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Lane has his roots in footwear design, beginning his career by developing collections for Christian Dior. While working for Dior, Lane discovered his true love of rhinestone embellishment and made the fortuitous leap into jewelry. Now the designer is helping Via Spiga create a limited edition couture shoe collection debuting this Fall.
Inspired by Lane’s most famous creations and designed by Via Spiga’s creative director, Paola Venturi, the line features an embellished snake ornament on each of the shoes. Though we may be moving into an era of decidedly subtle footwear, designers of evening shoes have clearly missed the memo. As long as couture gowns continue to slink down the runway, there will be designers out there to adorn evening slippers with gratuitous glam. After all, socialites need something to wear to a gala and a kitten heel just doesn’t cut it ;). Available at and Via Spiga’s NY Soho location this October.
