Isabel Toledo x Payless

Isabel Toledo’s highly anticipated collection for Payless Shoe Source has finally been unveiled. Though the collection is launching in stores this September, fashion editors have been given a preview of the designs. According to Toledo, comfort is a must. “I’m a walker. I wanted to address that”, Toledo told WWD. The collection features two handbags and seven styles of shoes with a Cuban-heeled ghillie that evokes Toledo’s Spanish heritage. Toledo also brought her sense of humor to the collaboration; see the caped avenger in her illustration and naming her accessories with such gems as “Almost a Slingback” and “Poodle Boot.” Toledo was once the designer for American sportswear label Anne Klein, so she’s no stranger to the mixing of high fashion and mass retail, which may be why she’s a favorite of Michelle Obama, America’s most high-profile high-low proponent. The collection will be available in Payless boutiques and on and are sure to be a strong follow-up to Payless’s recent collaborations with designers, Alice and Olivia and Christian Siriano.

*Now what exactly is a ghillie?

  1. That’s an amazing post. Thanks a lot

  2. There’s lots of gorgeous children’s footwear around at the moment, designers seem to recently found a creative spurt. I am particularly liking Italian Lelli Kellys.
